We are building Subshift
to fix shift staffing.
Staffing agencies spend hours every day chasing workers by phone to fill last-minute shifts. We saw this first-hand and decided to build the software that eliminates it.
Why Subshift exists
Temp staffing agencies — particularly in healthcare, hospitality, and industrial sectors — rely on a surprisingly manual process to fill shifts. A worker cancels at 7am, and an agency consultant spends 45 minutes calling down a list of names, hoping someone picks up. It is stressful, inefficient, and it happens every single day.
On top of that, compliance tracking (DBS checks, right-to-work documents, SIA licences, mandatory training) is often managed in spreadsheets. Timesheets are paper forms or WhatsApp photos. Invoicing happens manually every Friday afternoon.
We saw this pattern repeated across dozens of agencies and realised it was a workflow problem with a software solution. Subshift automates the entire cycle: from shift request to worker matching, notification, confirmation, timesheet, and invoice — without a single phone call.
We are building Subshift because we believe agency teams should spend their time on relationships and growth, not on the phone at 7am chasing workers.
The team
Sepehr Sabbagh-pour
Software engineer based in London. Building Subshift full-time to solve the shift coverage problem for UK staffing agencies.
If you want to talk about what we are building, how it works, or whether it is a good fit for your agency, reach out directly — I reply to every message.
Subshift is an early-stage product. We are a small team building fast and working closely with our first agencies to make sure the platform does exactly what they need. If you are evaluating Subshift, you will be talking directly to the people who build it.
Where we are based
Subshift is based in London, United Kingdom. We build software for UK staffing agencies and understand the regulatory environment — AWR, GDPR, CQC, SIA — that agencies operate in.
What we believe
Agencies should grow, not firefight
Your team is best used building client relationships and expanding your workforce — not on the phone at 7am.
Compliance is not optional
Every placement must be verified. Subshift enforces this automatically, so non-compliant workers are never offered shifts.
Workers deserve a better experience
No cold calls. No voicemails. Workers set their availability and get matched to shifts that fit their life.
Honest product, honest marketing
We only describe features that are actually built and working. No roadmap features dressed up as current capabilities.
Want to talk?
