Install on your phone

Subshift is a Progressive Web App (PWA). That means you install it directly from your browser — no App Store, no Play Store, no downloads to wait for. It works on any modern phone and behaves like a native app once installed.

Note

The app is not available on the App Store or Google Play. You install it from your browser as described below. This is intentional — it means your agency can update the app instantly without you needing to download anything.

Install on iPhone (iOS Safari)

  1. Open Safari on your iPhone. (Chrome and other browsers on iOS cannot add PWAs to the home screen.)
  2. Go to the link your agency sent you, or visit the Subshift worker app URL.
  3. Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen (the box with an arrow pointing up).
  4. Scroll down in the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen.
  5. Give the app a name (or keep the default) and tap Add.
  6. The Subshift icon now appears on your home screen. Tap it to open the app.

Tip

On iOS 16.4 and later, you can also enable push notifications from a PWA. After installing, open the app and tap Allow notifications when prompted — this ensures you get shift offer alerts.

Install on Android (Chrome)

  1. Open Chrome on your Android phone.
  2. Go to the Subshift worker app URL.
  3. Tap the three-dot menu (top-right corner).
  4. Tap Add to Home screen or Install app (the wording varies by Android version).
  5. Tap Add in the confirmation prompt.
  6. The Subshift icon appears on your home screen and in your app drawer.

Why a PWA instead of a native app?

PWAs are updated by your agency automatically — no app store approval delays, no "please update your app" messages. When your agency rolls out a change, you get it the next time you open the app. You also don't need to grant app store permissions or manage storage.
